8, 16 and 32 directions, Vedic and Modern, True North from your location, satellite map, camera stamp and a magnetic anomaly meter. Free, and nothing leaves your phone.
No location set yet.
In Google Maps, press and hold on the property. The coordinates show at the top; tap them to copy, then paste here. A full Google Maps link from the address bar also works. A short maps.app.goo.gl link has to be opened first.
A compass needle points to magnetic North. Vastu zones are read from True (geographic) North, the same North that maps and plans use. The difference, called declination, is worked out on your phone from the World Magnetic Model 2025 for the property's location and today's date, and added to every reading. Near Bangalore it is about 1° West; in North America it can be 10° to 15°.

Then it opens full screen, like an app. Free, no sign-in.
Tap the stars. It takes a second.
Hold the phone flat and still for 12 seconds, away from iron, vehicles, speakers and electrical panels.
Tap the North chip under the degree. Use your GPS, or paste a Google Maps link or coordinates of the property. The page works out the declination for that place and adds it, so the dial reads True North. You can switch back to Magnetic North at any time.
Vedic: the pada N5 (Soma) is centred on North, and the 8 directions show their devtas. Modern: North falls on the line between N4 and N5, and the 16 zones show their elements.
Stand in an open spot away from metal, cars and wiring and tap Set clear spot. Walk through the house holding the phone flat. If the meter moves while you have not turned, metal, wiring or steel nearby is pulling the needle, and readings there are not reliable. Set the clear spot again every minute or two.
Gyro lock: set the clear spot outside, then tap Gyro. The direction is now carried by the gyroscope, which does not feel magnetism, so you can walk in and read the door or rooms. It drifts slowly; set the clear spot again every 2 to 3 minutes.
Satellite map: open Map, move the map so the building is in the centre, choose Wall and draw along a wall, then drag the two yellow dots exactly onto two corners of that wall. Drag the line to slide it; the ⟲ ⟳ buttons turn it by 1° or 0.1°. Ring lets you drag the chakra onto the building (double-tap to centre it). The map is True-North-up, so the wall's bearing has no magnetic error at all. This is the most reliable check.
Also: a wall has the same direction along its whole length, so you can read it outside, clear of the building, and use that inside.
Open Camera, hold the phone upright and aim at the door or wall. Capture photo saves the picture with the degree, zone, pada, North reference, location and time stamped on it, ready to send.
If readings jump or look wrong, move the phone slowly in a figure of 8 three or four times, away from metal.
A phone compass can be a few degrees off. For final marking, confirm with a good magnetic compass or the satellite map. Nothing you do here leaves your phone; the map is loaded from Google only when you open it.
Put the compass on your home screen and open it like an app. It is free, with no sign-in.
